Friends of Atlantic Rail is a voluntary association. Our purpose is, to provide a support team, enabling Atlantic Rail to operate their train with a qualified competent crew, that ensures a safe and comfortable journey for passengers in line with the Rail Safety Regulator. The team also assists with cleaning and light maintenance of the train and locomotive. Membership is open to men and women of all ages
Come and join us
Friends of Atlantic Rail are always looking for new able bodied people who are passionate about trains- especially Steam Trains. Annual membership is only R120.00. As they say many hands make light work. Come and help on a Saturday to clean the locomotive and coaches as well as light repairs. You may choose whatever you are good at doing. On Sunday, ride the train as a qualified Coach Controller; assist passengers on and off the train, and answer questions that they might ask you and ensure their safety. Contact "Chuck" Johan Van Heerden at friends@atlanticrail.co.za to find out more. Yes everybody gets a nickname.
